When the task list is long, a workout is often the first thing squeezed out. But missing a full session does not mean you must stay seated: ten minutes outside or one lap around the building can give your body a different rhythm.

Activity can be broken up

CDC notes that adult activity can be spread across the week; sitting less and doing some moderate- or vigorous-intensity activity is generally more beneficial than doing none. The weekly recommendation does not need to happen all today, and a short walk can be one useful piece.

Give walking a cue

  • Walk to the corner and back after lunch.
  • Get water after a long meeting before sitting again.
  • Use ten minutes before leaving work for a favorite playlist or podcast.

Keep the intensity comfortable

This is not repayment for food or a step-count exam. Stop and seek appropriate advice for chest pain, clear dizziness, injury pain, or activity restrictions.
