Some days, changing clothes, getting out the door, and completing a whole workout sounds more tiring than movement itself. Lower the entry point to a park bench: walk there, do a few comfortable movements, then keep strolling. Starting small is still a start.

Some activity still counts today

CDC notes that adult activity can add up and that some physical activity is generally better than none. These three moves are not a prescription, and they do not need to be taken to fatigue. They are simply an option to add a little strength and range of motion to a walk.

Three small moves by a bench

  1. Hold the bench back, slowly rise onto your toes, and lower down a few times.
  2. Stand in front of the bench, sit down gently, then stand back up for a comfortable number of repetitions.
  3. Place your hands on the bench back and do a few standing, wall-push-up-style presses.

Put safety before repetitions

Being able to breathe and speak normally is enough. Stop for slippery ground, dizziness, or pain. If you are recovering from an injury, have unsteady balance, or have a health condition that affects activity, seek appropriate professional guidance first. This is not for cancelling food; it is a chance to use your body a little more during the day.
