A gentle first meal after fasting does not have to mean only soup or vegetables.

If the meal is too empty, snacks may feel louder later. Tofu shrimp steamed egg is useful because it is soft, simple, and still brings protein into the first meal.
What you need
- 2 eggs.
- Half a box of soft tofu.
- A small handful of shrimp.
- Warm water, a little salt, and chopped scallions.
- Optional: a small portion of rice or whole-grain staple, plus a plate of greens.
How to make it
- Beat the eggs and add about 1.5 times as much warm water. Stir gently.
- Cut the tofu into small cubes, place it in a shallow bowl, and pour in the egg mixture.
- Place the shrimp on top. Cover with a plate, or use plastic wrap with small holes.
- Steam over medium-low heat for 10-12 minutes after the water boils, then finish with scallions.
How to make the meal steadier
If this is your first meal after fasting, eat slowly. Steamed egg is easy to eat quickly, so give fullness a little time to arrive. For a more complete meal, add greens and a small portion of staple food. Carbs do not need to disappear.
Would you rather pair steamed egg with rice, or with whole-grain bread?
